This star of the Young and the Restless is a good southern boy who
knows how to play bad.
Actor. Artist. Writer. Singer. Model. Teacher. Chemistry Technician.
Pre-med Student. Linguist. Busboy.
Will the real Christian LeBlanc please stand up?
This six-foot hunk with the perfectly toned body has earned two Emmy
nominations for his stellar performances as the devious, manipulative
attorney, Michael Baldwin, on the number one-rated daytime soap, The
Young and the Restless. LeBlanc laughed when the list of his jobs was
read to him. "I've never heard it put like that before--it's
interesting," he mused. "It's everything I've done and all of it
defines me. Each thing is an expression of a different part of me and
makes me what I am. For an actor, the more varied exeriences you have,
and the more different types of people you meet, the more it brings to
your work. So, I'm glad I've had the chance to do all those things and
more."
The second child in a family of six, LeBlanc was born in Fort Bragg,
North Carolina. He spent much of his early life moving from one army
base to another. When his father retired from the army, he moved the
family to New Orleans.
His mother discovered that the 100-acre Colombe Park Plantation was
available for rent, and moved the family in. "We lived in the house
from the time I was in the sixth grade until the time I went to
California. Because of the plantation's history, we opened the house
for tours during summers and at Christmastime. I was the designated
tour guide. When I was young, I was very shy and I still am," he
confided. "I was so shy then that when I had to lead a tour, I would
hide until my mother coaxed me out. But I discovered that if I acted
the part of tour guide, I actually liked doing it."
That early experience led to his love of acting, which he pursued
through high school and as a history and pre-med student at Tulane
University. "I had just started taking my medical entrance exams when
a local photographer spotted me swimming in the Tulane pool. He
suggested I try modeling and sent me to a local New Orleans agency."
That was the beginning of a successful acting career that brought him
to New York, where he landed the role of teenager Kirk McColl on As
the World Turns. When the time came to renew his contract, LeBlanc
chose to leave the show and headed to Hollywood where he worked almost
non-stop in network and cable series and movies. In 1992, he won the
role of Michael Baldwin on The Young and the Restless.
His memories of life on the plantation had other influences on him. "I
grew to love the Cajun Christmas traditions," he recalled, "and I've
used them in the children's book I'm writing and illustrating called
Louisiana Moon.
Although he indulges his passion for traveling to exotic locales, he
considers New Orleans his home and returns regularly to visit family
and friends, and to savor the many joys of the city.
"The women [in New Orleands] are so wonderful looking. Because of the
intermingling of so many cultures, the skin shades you see are a range
of exotic coffee colors. And those amazing gray eyes--absolutely
gorgeous!"
But according to LeBlanc, looks aren't everything. "What attracts me
to a woman is first and foremost a sense of humor, then a strong
intellect. She must be independent and have an adventurous spirit. I'm
a voracious reader and she must share that interest, as well a love
for art, travel and dancing! I love to dance. My favorite kind of date
is to go to a romantic restaurant or club with good dance
music--especially Latin salsa. Touch dancing is the sexiest kind of
dancing. When you hold a girl in your arms, you can tell how
comfortable she is with her body and how good she will be in bed."
The big question is, how has he managed to avoid marriage? "No one
ever asked me," he quipped. "I'm waiting for someone to propose.
Actually, I'm happy being single. Marriage doesn't fit into my
life--at least not now. But who knows what the future will bring?"
So there's hope for some lucky girl--especially if she's got that
southern charm, and comes from New Orleans. --Dorothy Vine
So then, according to this, he is straight....
